This traditional French gourmet recipe dessert is usually made with black cherries. In this recipe, you can use a mixture of any fruits you prefer.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl, stir together the milk, cream, ground almonds, 1/3 cup sugar, and the eggs. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and pour into the bowl Whisk the ingredients together and set aside.
Place the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once the butter melts, add the apple and 1 tablespoon sugar. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, or until caramelized. Remove from the stove.
In the bottom of four 5 ½ in. baking dishes, lay the apples, mango, and blackberries. Pour the milk mixture over this.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
