Veggie Sandwich
Going
vegetarian and thinking that it would mean the end of eating that fancy
club? Well technically, although there
would be no meat now in the sandwiches, there are ways to still eat this very
convenient meal even without the presence of deli cuts, chicken breast flakes,
or canned tuna. All it takes is a bit of
research, a little creativity, and sometimes a bit of inspiration.
Bruschetta
and other open-faced sandwiches may be a good place to start. These may be served as cocktails or
appetizers in a party. Mushrooms sautéed
in garlic are the usual choices for this type of meal, although in some cases,
tomatoes, basil, and probably some cheese are included. Carefully packed, they may also be a take-out
lunch. More often than not, it’s better
to have open-faced sandwiches to be eaten right away than taking them for
packed lunch.
Protein
sources for vegetable sandwiches are easy.
For one thing, there are mushrooms, which may be sautéed with onions and
garlic before adding them in to the mix.
Portobello mushrooms have been great burger substitutes, and sometimes,
they are made into open-faced sandwiches as well. Beans in burritos and soft tacos also are
great protein sources from plants with the same texture as meat. Vegetable-based meat substitutes for burger
patties are also available in health food stores, vegan stores, and
groceries. They are cooked the same way
as meat burgers are cooked – pan fried or grilled. Grill one veggie pattie, place it on a burger
bun, top this with Monterey Jack Cheese, tomatoes, a few jalapeno peppers and
lettuce leaves and you have your own spicy burger. Fries on the side or veggie sticks and it’s
an instant lunch.
Vegetables
can also be roasted or grilled before placing them on ciabatta bread drizzled
with garlic oil. Cheese can then be
grated on it (if you are pure vegan, then use a vegan cheese substitute). Olives and mushrooms may be added too before
toasting this or eaten as is. To bring
this sandwich to work, just wrap it in foil and place in your lunch bag and
go. The olives and cooked mushrooms give
this dish an extra “meaty” texture and the roasted vegetables are not only a
rainbow inside two pieces of bread, they are also a medley of different tastes
and textures upon biting into the sandwich.
Vegetable
sandwich recipes are still available, for those wanting to go vegetarian. All it takes is a bit of inspiration and
creativity to come up with several tasty and healthy concoctions. Get ideas for sandwiches from video recipes online.

Healthy Raw Food Snacks
When
it comes to mid-day snacking, most of us have the first instinct to go to the
nearby convenience store for a bag of chips or pop some microwave popcorn. There have been attempts to go healthy but
during snack time, we find ourselves craving for sinful treats after a rather
light lunch meal. Thankfully, we can
still be healthy during our midday snacking and give our body the right food it
needs.
A
good and healthy diet encourages eating a rainbow of colors, meaning at least
5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, at any color. We normally eat them cooked or included in
stews, but really, they can be enjoyed raw and as they are (although prepared
for ease of eating, like peeled and sliced), just as how our ancestors used to
eat them during prehistoric times. Raw
vegans attest that raw (or live or uncooked) food is packed with energy,
vitamins, minerals, and everything healthy.
For those who are trying to lose weight, consuming raw fruits and
vegetables are the way to go, because you do not gain weight, and in fact, lose
weight as the body does not need to neutralize or detoxify the toxins in the
body brought about by junk food or processed food.
Adding
a bit of raw food during snack time or dessert is a great way to get started
eating healthy. If you are not yet
convinced of going full raw vegan, then take some principles from this diet
during snack time. A banana or apple is
the easiest thing to pack whenever you’re hungry. An apple can be washed and eaten during
snack. A banana is easier because all
you have to do is peel and go (don’t forget to dispose the peel properly to
avoid any accidents). Grapes,
strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries may be eaten as dessert or snacks. They are loaded with antioxidants for the
body to help fight diseases. For those
who want something a bit saltier, slice up carrots, turnips, bell peppers (all
three colors), and celery for an attractive veggie platter. You may also serve them with salsa or dip of
your choice for a bit more of a treat.
Fruits and vegetables blended together may also be a refreshing smoothie
during a hot summer day or a refreshing drink post-workout.

Thirst Quenchers
One of the great principles to a hearty life is to keep hydrated. The eight tall glasses of water works, genuinely. So it’s best to observe that habit and start it while young. drinks, whether it be a cold glass of iced water to supercharge vigor or a cup of hot tea give the body the nutrition it demands, whether it be a cool rush during the hot summer day or the warmness of a steaming hot chocolate during winter.
During summer, we’re mostly outside, and when we’re out in the sun employing in our sports actions, we tend to get dehydrated. Refreshing drinks are often the most received thing when we go indoors. Fruit juices are available either already bottled or in tetra packs. Some are instant powders ready-mixed with water for an instant refreshing beverage. To get the most nutritious value, although it can be wearing, it’s better to use juices that are fresh, expressed from fruit or veggie and sweetened with cocoa sugar and honey. There are formulas available to make several mixtures, depending on what the body needs, or merely the modality for the day.
Smoothies are denser since they use a combining of fruit juice and a blend of fruit and its flesh. Sometimes, veges may be supplied to the mix to make a flavorsome green smoothie, meaning a smoothie made from a mixture of fruits and vegetables. Not only is this sound, but this gets a lot of the benefits of the raw food diet in the body. Although the opinion of juicing veggies makes you gag, with the right combination of ingredients, and adding a bit of spice such as cinnamon or cayenne pepper, it can be stimulating and flavorful. Also, that supplemental spice gives the beverage a bit of a kick.
Warm drinks like coffee and tea serve different aims. Both clean the roof of the mouth after a meal. Coffee is usually the morning or afternoon pick-me-upper and may be served as it is or with cream, sugar, or milk. There are also speciality coffees like cappuccino or mochas, which combine coffee with syrup, milk, and other condiments for a new form of beverage. This also may be served iced in some eateries. Tea has a lot of health benefits in the body. The caffeine-free versions may be taken at dinner time, too, as a tranquilizing drink to help sleep. Of course, steeping tea bags in hot water, letting it cool and contributing ice and some sweetenings produces a very popular beverage – iced tea.
Beverages hydrate, energize, and cool the body. These should not be skipped and with a lot of alternatives and formulas available, these, along with good ol’ clean and potable water are very essential not only in mealtimes, but also during the day. Watch beverage recipe videos here.
